Ibn Majid was born into a famous family of sailors, in a small town in Oman, in 1432. Ibn Majid loved sailing the open seas and discovering new places.
As a young boy Ibn Majid heard many stories from his family about the lands beyond the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. Ibn Majid was so wanted to be a sailor like his father.
When he created the compass, his expertise was wanted by all the great explorers of his time.
He became known as “The Master Navigator”.
